Seattle-based singer Mary Lambert has been one of our favorite rising stars for the past few years, and with good reason. Not only does she have a great voice, she uses it to speak about challenges that face LGBT youth. On her first single from her debut album “Secrets,” she talks about her experiences being a lesbian, dealing with mental illness and being overweight.

While “Secrets” features some heavy subject matter, Lambert keeps things upbeat with fun lyrics like “I rock mom jeans, cat earrings” and “I love my butt and won't shut up/And I never really grew up.” And the video has lots of cute kids dancing and Lambert dressed as a Viking woman.
