It’s SUMMER! And summer calls for fun, bright colors in clothes and accessories! For some reason, I find it a bit tough to shift from wearing darker colors in the winter season to brighter colors for the spring and summer. If I’m having a hard time deciding what to wear, I can go casual with the colors for the outfit but I know that accessories will always do the trick.

I decided it would be fun to make a new summer accessory out of an old purse. The purse, boho and bright, was cute but of no use anymore so I opted to utilize its bright fringe to make a tassel necklace. To my surprise, this upcycling project took about 10-15 min max, which means you can easily do this too!

I usually like to wear this necklace with a LBD (little black dress) for a dressy night out or I wear it with a plain white tee and jeans on a casual day. However you want to wear it though, you’ll definitely be making a bold statement no matter what!

Things you will need:

  • A crossbody bag or anything with tassels

  • Necklace chain
  • Seam ripper
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Beads (optional)
